19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
It is the player's first trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from spring of that year.
The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.
But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved service.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.
He defended four early-game chances in a close deciding set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, he secured the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
